'Shivswarajya Din' to be celebrated in M'rashtra on June 6: minister

Kolhapur, Jan 4 (UNI) The Maharashtra government will celebrate 'Shivswarajya Din' in the state on June six, the day on which the 'Rajyabhishek' (coronation) of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj took place in 1674, announced Rural Development Minister Hasan Mushrif on Monday.
Talking to reporters here, he said that since Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji ascended to the throne on June six, 1674, this is a very important day and his ministry has already notified to this effect.
Henceforth, the 'Shivswarajya Din' would be celebrated in the local self-government institutions of the state, including gram panchayat, Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad offices, with hoisting a 'gudi' in these offices and singing of the state song and national anthem, he said.
On this day, all employees of the three local self-government institutions will have to attend this function compulsory, the minister informed.
Mr Mushrif said that on this day, the three local self-government institutions would stage programmes on the life and teachings of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to create awareness among the public.
