Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel has begun production last year. The movie is scheduled to release in 2022.

Into the Spider-Verse’s official Twitter handle has shared new images featuring Spider-Man 2099, who may be a part of the sequel. Producer Phil Lord has previously confirmed that the movie will feature Japanese Spider-Man. Originally premiered in 1978, Japanese Spider-Man was similar to Power Rangers and it featured martial arts fights, masked henchmen, and mech battles. The series also had a unique origin story.
Marvel is trying to expand the Spider-Man universe with new movies including Morbius, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3, and more. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3 will feature Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange as well as Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.
