Overall, 37 shares were trading in green in Nifty50 index, while 13 were trading in red in the afternoon trade.
In the Nifty 50 index, Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries, Eicher Motors, GAIL and ONGC were among top gainers, while Kotak Bank, Hero MotoCorp, Adani Ports SEZ, Bajaj Finance and Titan Company were trading in red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 189.80 points up at 48058.78. Traders were seen piling up position in Diversified, Irrigation & Allied Services, Metals - Non Ferrous, Cables and Defence sectors, while selling were visible in Electric/Electronics, Learning & Education, Agro Processing, Miscellaneous and General sectors.
