JAC to conduct Matric & Intermediate exams from March 9-26

Ranchi, Jan 4 (UNI) The Jharkhand Academic Council has decided to conduct the 2021 matriculation and intermediate exams for its students from March 9 to March 26 next.
JAC Chairman Arvind Prasad Singh on Monday said the exams have been scheduled a month later than the usual date due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The decision was taken after consultation with all the members of the committee, he added.
Nearly 7.50 lakh students will appear in the matric and inter examinations to be held in two sittings, he informed.
After the end of the board exams in April, schools will hold the final examinations of classes eight, nine and 11 and declare the results in May.
Guidelines for the examinations will be issued in a week and directives will be issued to the schools to follow the protocols strictly, Prasad said .
Officials of all the districts will be trained before the exams to ensure covid guidelines are maintained.
Adding further, he said that the school syllabus has been reduced by 40 per cent in the wake of Covid-19.
JAC has also made changes in pattern of examination, with 40 per cent objective questions and reducing the number of long questions, he added.
