Proteas opener Dean Elgar notched up his 13th Test century on day two of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Wanderers on Monday.
It was a superb knock from the 33-year-old, who is in fantastic form after the 95 he scored in South Africa's only innings in the first Test.
Centuries will always be special for these players, but on Sunday Elgar reached another milestone when he became just the 10th batsmen in the history of Proteas cricket to pass 4 000 runs in Test cricket.
Proteas with more than 4 000 Test runs:
Jacques Kallis - 13 206 @ 55.25
Hashim Amla - 9 282 @ 46.64
Graeme Smith - 9 253 @ 48.70
AB de Villiers - 8 765 @ 50.66
Gary Kirsten - 7 289 @ 45.27
Herschelle Gibbs - 6 167 @41.95
Mark Boucher - 5 498 @ 30.54
Daryll Cullinan - 4 554 @ 44.21
Faf du Plessis - 4 100 (before batting at Wanderers) @ 41.41
Dean Elgar - 4 075 (end of day 1 at Wanderers) @ 39.95
There are just seven players, meanwhile, who have scored more centuries than Elgar in Test cricket for South Africa, and he is now just one away from both names immediately above him on that list.
Most Proteas Test centuries:
Jacques Kallis - 45
Hashim Amla - 28
Graeme Smith - 27
AB de Villiers - 22
Gary Kirsten - 21
Daryll Cullinan - 14
Herschelle Gibbs - 14
Dean Elgar - 13
