MANGALURU: Health department officials in Dakshina Kannada district have sought help from Mangaluru city police to trace two UK returnees, believed to be in the city.
While health department staffers have tracked down 118 people from the UK, who arrived in the district through various airports from November 21, two are yet to be traced. Of the 118, 115 passengers tested negative for the virus, while samples of three, including an eight-month-old-child, are yet to be collected.
“Health officials could not find the two at the address mentioned in their passports,” said Dr Ashok H, nodal officer for Covid-19 in Dakshina Kannada district. “So we sought the help of the police. Also, a mother is unwilling to submit her eight-month child to RT-PCR test. She says the child does not have symptoms and therefore does not need to be tested. The mother and grandmother of the child tested negative. We have warned the mother she will face consequences if she does not cooperate.”
