Oppn's religious vandalism in AP will be firmly put down : CM

Tirupati, Jan 4 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday said, unable to underscore the spectacular development and launch of massive welfare programs in just 18 months of YSRCP rule, the vested interests were resorting to religious vandalism and attacking temples to provoke religious antagonism in the state.

Addressing from his camp office in Tadepalli near Vijayawada virtually the state police meet 2020 being held at Tirupati Police parade grounds and organised by Kalyani Dam police training college here, Mr Reddy said unfortunately even Gods were not spared in politicking by the opposition leaders.

He said no culprits and miscreants will be spared as the attitude of anti-socials was getting violent and that the focus of his administration was above caste, party, region and religion influences .

The Chief Minister appealed to people to ponder on who will benefit from such religious provocations and violent acts and who were targeted ?

He also asked police to tackle the religion based guerrilla war waged by political vested interests.

Mr Reddy said white collar crime spiralled in the country and vested interests were vying for gaining power through religion and added the religious vandalism by the opposition in the state will be firmly put down.

Instances of religious vandalism are increasing to drown the publicity for YSRCP government’s massive welfare programs like housing which were grounded in the Sankranti festival season.

He said to avert the religious politics of opposition leaders, Closed Circuit cameras have been installed in 20 temples already. Such vandalism is occurring in private temples and institutions managed by opposition leaders, the Chief Minister said.

Speaking on the occasion Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy lauded the exemplary service rendered by police personnel during the difficult days of COVID-19.

He said the four-day police meet was being held for the first time since the bifurcation of state and titled as integrated group of national industrial Technology exhibition (IGNITE) 2020.

It was being conducted on par with National meets, Mr Narayana Swamy said.

Nearly 450 policemen including 40 IPS officers and 25 DSPs, besides senior officials of Kurnool and Anantpur range were participating in 18 categories of sports events.

State Home Minister Ms Sucharita will address the valedictory session on Thursday.
