Korean regulator urges operators to notify customers before end of free OTT service trials

South Korean antitrust watchdog ordered over-the-top (OTT) services providers on the local market to inform their customers in advance when their free trials end and turn into paid membership, The Korea Times reports. Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) recently held a meeting of the Consumer Policy Committee, and specifically mentioned Netflix to indicate that the US-based online video streaming service, as well as local players, should not start charging customers membership fees without prior notification.
