DMK, the main opposition party in Tamil Nadu, has announced the waiver of higher education loans of students on getting power. DMK President and Leader of Opposition in Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly MK Stalin said on Sunday that once the DMK regains power in the Assembly elections held in April-May, then it will waive higher education loans of the students.
Stalin, speaking at the party's gram sabha meeting in village V. Mettupalayam in Erode West assembly constituency, accused the present state government of AIADMK of spreading corruption. The DMK leader said, unemployment is increasing in the state and the level of education has come down. He also accused the villagers of disturbing 100 days of work. He said that this will be corrected as soon as the DMK government is formed in the state.
He said that he would demand from the Central Government to provide minimum employment of 150 days and provide a daily allowance. Earlier, Stalin paid tribute to freedom fighter Veera Pandia Kattabomman by placing flowers on her photo at the party office on the occasion of her 262nd birth anniversary.
