JEE Advanced 2021: Eligibility criteria for admission in IITs & JEE Advanced exam dates to be announced on Jan 7

NEW DELHI: Union education minister Ramesh Pikhriyal Nishank would announce the eligibility criteria for admission in IITs and the date of JEE Advanced examination at 6pm on Thursday, January 7, 2021.
The minister on Monday made this announcement on microbloging site Twitter. He wrote: My dear students, I will announce the eligibility criteria for admission in #IITs & the date of #JEE Advanced on 7th Jan at 6 PM. Stay tuned!"
Earlier, the ministr had announced that JEE-Mains for admission to engineering colleges will be held four times a year to offer flexibility to students and a chance to improve their scores.
The first edition of the Joint Entrance Examination-Mains (JEE-Mains) will be held from February 23 to 26, followed by rounds in March, April and May.
The exam scheduled to be held from February 23 to 26, March 15 to 18, April 27 to 30 and May 24 to 28, 2021 as announced by the Education Ministry, is expected to ensure that students do not miss out on opportunities due to the pandemic or clash of board and competitive exams.
JEE Advanced vs JEE Main
Comparing the conduct of JEE Advanced with JEE Main, he explains, “Students can attempt JEE Advanced only once for which maximum 2 lakh 50,000 aspirants are permitted. But considering the large number of students in JEE Main, providing the necessary infrastructure only once or even twice in times of COVID-19, would be a challenge. The infrastructure will be better utilised with proper safety measures if the exam is held multiple times. It will give students an equal opportunity to improve upon their performance as only their best score will be considered.”
