Maha Govt will collapse over issue of renaming of Aurangabad city: RPI chief

Palghar, Jan 3 (UNI) Union Minister and RPI chief Ramdas Athawale on Sunday claimed that the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state will collapse over the issue of renaming of Aurangabad city.
Talking to newsmen here after a brief visit to the district, he said that the MVA government will collapse in a dispute over the renaming of Aurangabad city and advised the Thackeray government not to get into this controversy.
He claimed that this government will collapse very soon and the BJP-RPI alliance will come to power in the state.
"... one cannot say as to how many more days he will remain the Chief Minister," he said.
Mr Athawale declared that the BJP-RPI alliance will come to power in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and said that this time the Mayor of BMC will be from BJP and the Deputy Mayor will be of RPI.
On the possibility of NCP president Sharad Pawar becoming the chairman of United Progressive Alliance, the RPI chief said that there is a demand to make him the UPA chairman but due to opposition of the Congress, it is unlikely to happen.
Asked about agri laws and farmers' opposition to the same, the Minister noted that "the agri laws are beneficial to the farmers. Even if the farmers are agitating against these laws, it will not be possible to take them back. Every Act faced resistance. If they are withdrawn, then the Constitution itself will be endangered."
While vouching his support for upcoming mega port project at Wadhwan in the district, he said that the port will generate employment opportunities for many and appealed the public not to oppose it.
