NHPC CMD VISITS MANIPUR
REVIEWS PROGRESS OF UPCOMING LOKTAK DOWNSTREAM HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT & RENOVATION WORKS OF LOKTAK POWER STATION

Shri A.K.Singh Chairman & Managing Director of NHPC Ltd along with Shri Y.K.Chaubey, Director (Technical), NHPC Ltd. was on the visit of Manipur from 24th to 27th December 2020 and during this he reviewed the status of upcoming Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Project.

The upcoming project will be of 66 MW capacity which is located at Taosang Village, Noney District. It is pertinent to mention here that he also met Hon’ble CM of Manipur in this regard on 24th December. He also met Hon’ble Power Minister and Chief Secretary of the state.

Reviews of upcoming Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Project on 27 December, 2020

On 27th December, the CMD met various stakeholders of this upcoming project and he discussed different aspects of this project. While replying to their concerns about compensation and safety related issues, Mr. Singh assured them that the concerned affected people will get the due compensation as per the approved Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) Policy and all the safety related issues would be taken care of as per the approved DPR and the guidelines from Govt. of India. He stressed that all the relevant policies and norms will be fully implemented for the benefit of local people.

Mr. A.K.Singh also visited various installations of Loktak Power Station, like Ithai Barrage, Leimatak Power House and the Project Headquarters at Komkeirap. He reviewed the status of ongoing renovation works of Loktak Power Station. This 105 MW capacity power station is operational since 1983. Major upgradation works are being carried out at the power station for technology upgradation and to boost overall efficiency.

NHPC Limited presently has an installation base of 7071.2 MW from 24 power stations on ownership basis including projects taken up in Joint Venture. Apart from hydro power, NHPC is involved in solar and wind power also.
