Investigating a Rs 45 crore fraud case, the Central Crime Branch police arrested an absconding accused who collected the money on the promise of arranging Rs 5,000 crore fund to expand a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
Chennai: The accused, D Ashwin Rao (54) of Bengaluru, who had been absconding ever since the arrest of his co-accused, PL Jeyaraj of Anna Nagar, was traced to his hideout in Bengaluru and arrested on Friday.
The duo approached one Kurian Paulos of Mavelikkara in Kerala after they came to know that he was looking for funds to expand his Central Travancore Specialist Hospital there. They promised the victim that they would arrange Rs 5,000 crore fund from abroad and collected Rs 45 crore as commission.
