This week Samsung reduced the price of three Galaxy phones- Galaxy M01, Galaxy M01s and Galaxy A31 along with Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live wireless earbuds. Telecom regulatory authority has ended the interconnect usage charges (IUC) for all domestic voice calls from January 1 making voice calls truly free. The week also saw new launches from Vivo, Michael Kors and other brands.
TRAI ends interconnect usage charges (IUC) for all domestic voice calls
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has ended the interconnect usage charges (IUC) for all domestic voice calls from January 1, 2021. This means voice calls will be truly free once again. For those unaware, IUC applies when a voice call is made between two different operators. It doesn’t matter whether the other person receives the call or misses or disconnects it, the IUC charges get billed.
Apple removes Vybe Together from the App Store
Apple has removed an iPhone app called Vybe Together from the App Store. As per a report by The Verge, the app was caught promoting itself via TikTok, showcasing videos of secret parties and encouraging others to join by calling itself a “secret party app”. The app encourages secret meetings and parties while the world is fighting COVID-19 by isolating indoors.
DoT may have Rs 3,050 crore 'good news' for Airtel, Vodafone in Reliance Jio call failure case
The Department of Telecom (DoT) is said to have rejected TRAI's recommendation to impose fines on Airtel and Vodafone-Idea for failing to provide points of interconnection to Reliance Jio. According to a report by the Financial Express, . The department is likely to waive Rs 3,050 crore fine imposed on the two telecom companies.

Facebook Messenger ‘video scam’ that you must know
Under this new scam, fraudsters send a link on Facebook Messenger. Clicking on the link will show a video file with the caption “Is it you in the video?”. The moment you click on the video to check whether it is actually you or not in the video, you will be directed to a fake Facebook login page that is made to steal your Facebook login details.
Samsung cuts price of Galaxy M01, M01s, Galaxy A31, Galaxy Buds+ and Buds Live
Samsung has revised the price of three smartphones and two wireless earbuds. The company has reduced the price of Samsung Galaxy M01 and the Galaxy M01s by Rs 500. While Samsung Galaxy M01 can now be purchased at Rs 7,499, Galaxy M01s will retail at Rs 8,999. Price of Samsung Galaxy A31 has been reduced by Rs 2,000 and will now cost Rs 17,999. Similarly, Samsung Galaxy Buds+ has got a price cut of Rs 3,000 and it is now selling at Rs 8,990. The Galaxy Buds Live are now selling at Rs 11,990.

Sony announces PlayStation 5 launch date for India
Sony has announced the launch date of PlayStation 5 (PS5) in India. The gaming console will launch in India on February 2, 2021. The pre-orders for PS5 will start at 12PM on January 12 both online and offline. Sony says that the pre-orders will be available till stocks last at respective retailers.
