Flights develops snag on runway, providential escape for 46 passengers

Chennai, jan 3 (UNI) A total of 46 passengers, bound for

Abu Dhabi, had a providential escape after the flight

developed a technical snag on the runway at the airport

here on Sunday.

Airport sources said soon after the captain of the

Etihad airways flight noticed the snag when the

flight was moving on the runway, he immediately

stopped the flight and prevented a mishap.

The special flight with 38 passengers and eight crew

members moved into the runway and was moving for

the take off, when the technical snag was noticed.

The captain after aborting the flight on the runway

also alerted the Airport Authorities and the Air

traffic control, following which it was towed back

to the bay.

The officials subsequently cancelled the flight and

the passengers were accommodated in a city hotel.

The flight was expected to leave for Abu Dhabi later

tonight.
