VARANASI: A 7-year-old UKG student Abhishek of Shahganj was murdered after kidnapping by two ITI students for ransom in Jaunpur district on Saturday.
SP Jaunpur Rajkaran Nayyar on Sunday informed reporters that both kidnappers Shivam Kumar Srivastava, who gave tuition to Abhishek in the past, and his accomplice Akash had been arrested. He said that the arrested duo are ITI students and they had already killed the minor boy by strangulating him with the help of their muffler before giving a text message to Abhishek’s father Deepchand to seek Rs 7 lakhs as ransom.
On Saturday Abhishek had left his home on Ayodhya Road under the limits of Shahganj police station for the place of his tutor in neighbouring Yadav colony at 10 am. His timing to return from tuition was 12 noon. However, when he did not return home till 2 pm, his father Deepchand Yadav, who runs a pathology centre in Bibiganj area, reached the place of the tutor where he was informed that Abhishek did not reach there.
Around 3 pm Deepchand received a text message on his mobile phone. The message sender had informed that Abhishek had been kidnapped and he would be released after paying Rs seven lakhs. After that Deepchand reached Shahganj police station.
SP Jaunpur said that taking serious note of his complaint a case of kidnapping for ransom was lodged and six teams were formed for rescuing the boy safely. By late night police succeeded in identifying the kidnappers as Shivam and Akash and caught the duo.
