Two fake ACB officials arrested for demanding Rs 1 lakh from Thane trader

Thane, Jan 3 (UNI) The city police on Sunday arrested two people on charge of allegedly posing as Anti-Corruption Bureau officials and demanding Rs 1 lakh from a trader in Mumbra town of the district.
The duo have been charged under sections 389, 170, 171 and 34 of Indian Penal Code by the Mumbra police, sources said.
The pair on Saturday night at around 2030 hours approached the shopkeeper, Mubshir Aslam Shaikh (29), posing as police officials from ACB of Navi Mumbai and demanded Rs 1 lakh for not taking action against him for selling banned gutka.
Based on the complaint lodged by the shopkeeper, the pair -- Alamdar Mohsin Ali Punja (30) and Jayesh Radhakisan Sonawane (31) were arrested.
Police also seized several bogus identity cards from them, sources added.
