Cop custody for man who raped, killed tribal girl in Maharashtra

A man accused of raping and killing a three-year-old tribal girl in Pen, Raigad district, was remanded to police custody till January 8 by the Alibaug sessions court. Accused Adesh Patil (34), who was out on bail, allegedly sexually assaulted the toddler at Vadgaon village, Pen, on December 30, 2020.
No advocate represented him in court. It was announced earlier this week that renowned lawyer Ujjwal Nikam will be appointed as special public prosecutor in the case.
Patil was booked under the Pocso Act and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
