Give Brand India a global recognition, Modi tells IIM students

Sambalpur, Jan 02 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked IIM students to work as a bridge between Atma Nirbharta Mission, local products and international collaboration and give Brand India a global recognition

Laying the foundation stone of the permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur through video conferencing Mr Modi said, “You have to show your management skills with the mantra of innovation integrity and inclusiveness”.

The Prime Minister said the permanent campus of the IIM Sambalpur will not only showcase the culture and resources of Odisha but will also give Odisha a global recognition in the field of management.

The campus will provide a new identity to Odisha in the field of management.

He said recently the country witnessed a trend of Indian multinationals as opposed to the earlier trend of outside multinationals coming to India.

Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities are seeing startups and India has seen more ‘unicorns’ in recent troubled times, rapid reforms are taking place in the agriculture field, Mr Modi said and asked the students to align their career with the aspiration of the country.

He asked students to work on improving tourism in the light of the immense local potential in the Sambalpur area having great potential such as local handicraft, textiles and tribal art.

They should also look for better management of abundant minerals and other resources of the region as all this will contribute to the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Campaign, he said.

The new technologies like additive printing, changing production techniques, logistics, and supply chain management. coupled with digital connectivity, and work from anywhere concept has turned the world into a global village, Mr Modi said.

India, he said has undertaken rapid reforms in recent months and has tried not only to keep pace with the changes but also tried to anticipate and surpass them.

The Prime Minister asked the students to research the way Covid crisis was handled in India with innovation and collaboration at such a big scale and asked them to study how capacity and capability was expanded in such a short time.

He expressed happiness that the country is coming out of the short-term approach of problem-solving and how the focus now is on long term solutions.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the Odisha government accords the highest priority to the development of Human Resources. The Skilled in Odisha’ has already become an international brand.

Our focus is to train the youths of the state in the latest technology and technical know-how and to make them market-ready as per the demand of the industry 4.0, he said.



Odisha, the Chief Minister said, is emerging as a leading research hub of the nation with the establishment of IIM, IIT,NISER, IISER,AIIMS,NLU and thanked the central government for establishing these institutes.

He said education in Odisha is witnessing a rapid transformation and the state continues its dominance in the education sector and emerged as the education hub of the eastern India.

Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishant, Pratap Chandra Sarangi also spoke at the foundation laying ceremony.
