VASCO: On New Year’s Eve, even the usually deserted Baina beach was full of tourists, who stayed till the early hours of Friday to bring in the New Year.
“We came here to celebrate New Year. A friend recommended Baina beach to us, telling us that it’s a quieter place to enjoy with family. However, we had a different experience,” said Amit Patil, who came down from Maharashtra with his family.
What brought tourist in large numbers was the watersports activities. Many were seen going for boating rides, which promised to take them up to the secluded Bat Island. Many hawkers also made the most of the situation.
“The local municipality should at least install mobile toilets for the convenience of visitors,” said another tourist Sunita Yadav.
