Players who are certain to be retained in IPL 2021 as per InsideSport assumption
Shreyas Iyer: Delhi Capitals are clearly grooming Shreyas Iyer to be their long-term skipper and he will certainly be the first player that they will retain in IPL 2021. He is a calm influence in the middle-order for Delhi and is starting to hone his leadership skills under the eyes of coach Ricky Ponting. Needless to say that Iyer is the first captain to lead Delhi into the final of IPL in 2020.
Kagiso Rabada: Rabada ended IPL 2020 as the highest wicket-taker with 30 scalps to his name and it’s no brainer that DC will be more than eager to retain their pace spearhead. Moreover, DC who traded Trent Boult to Mumbai Indians last year, will not want to repeat their mistake.
Marcus Stoinis: The Australian all-rounder had his moments for Delhi in the 2020 edition, and DC coach Ponting will be eager to have his genuine match-winning abilities. Consistency is not his forte as of yet, but he does pull off some incredible things when on song. Moreover, he can contribute with both bat and ball which makes him a valuable asset for the team.
Other players who are certain to be retained: Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Anrich Nortje, R Ashwin,

Players who will be definitely shown exit door in IPL 2021 as per InsideSport assumption:
Ishant Sharma: The lanky pacer missed the tournament due to an injury and with the Capitals doing good in the pace department, the franchise is certain to release the veteran. He was ruled out of IPL 2020 with an abdominal muscle tear.
Amit Mishra: Like Ishant, Mishra will also be shown the exit door as he is on the wrong side of the 30. The spinner was not able to be a part of the franchise throughout the season as he sustained an injury in a match against KKR. The 37-year-old sustained a flexor tendon injury to the ring finger of his bowling hand whilst attempting to take a return catch off his bowling.
Daniel Sams: He was brought in as a replacement for Chris Woakes who opted out before the beginning of the tournament. With an impressive BBL 2019 behind him, DC had high hopes for the left-arm quick to deliver in his debut IPL season. Sams featured in three games for the Capitals this season but went wicketless on each occasion. Though he bowled tough overs at the death and in the powerplay, he failed to contain any runs during the distinct phases of the game.
Looking ahead at the next IPL season, Daniel Sams is set to be released as Delhi looks to rope in support for Rabada and Nortje in the fast-bowling department at the IPL 2021 auction.
