CHANDIGARH/PANCHKULA: A dry run to test the preparedness of Covid-19 vaccine delivery and mechanism will take place at Government Multi-specialty Hospital, Sector 16, and civil hospitals in Manimajra and Sector 22 on Saturday to detect loopholes and resolve them before the actual vaccination starts as part of the countrywide event.
Sources said dummy vaccines will be rolled out and distributed at sites the health department has already selected.
Each site will have 25 preregistered persons on the CoWIN portal being called through an SMS. They would be duly verified, mock vaccinated and observed for 30 minutes before being allowed to leave.
“There will be five vaccinators in addition to medical officers in-charge at these sites. As many as 25 beneficiaries will receive a text message and will be at each of these three sites,” said UT director health services Dr Amandeep Kang.
The Panchkula health department has identified four sites in the district. “These include Raipur Rani community centre, primary health care centre, Kot, and civil dispensaries in sectors 4 and 8. As many as 103 health officials shall be posted at these sites for the dry run,” district immunisation officer Dr Meenu Sasan said.
Civil surgeon Dr Jasjit Kaur said, “The dry run will start from 11am until 1pm. The idea is to be prepared for CoWIN application, uploading of the data and logistics of the team to be deployed.”
“All the beneficiaries during the drill will be inoculated with a dummy vaccine. There will be five team members, including vaccinator officers (doctors, nurse and pharmacist), vaccinator officer (police, home guard of civil defence personnel) who shall verify the beneficiaries registration for the vaccine, vaccination officer II shall verify the documents and after vaccination shall upload the details of the patients, and vaccination officer III and IV shall be responsible for crowd management,” Kaur added.
