IIM CAT Result 2020 HIGHLIGHTS: A total of nine students have scored 100 percentile, of these five are from IITs. Last year, 10 students had scored 100 percentile score. All of these nine top rankers are males.

CAT Result 2020 HIGHLIGHTS: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore declared the result for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2020. A total of nine students have scored 100 percentile, of these five are from IITs. Last year, 10 students had scored 100 percentile score. All of these nine top rankers are males.

Of the nine students who have scored 100 percentile, seven candidates are from the highest overall percentile are from the engineering or technology background, one candidate is from mathematics background and only one candidate is from management background.

At second rank, 19 candidates have scored an overall 99.99 percentile in CAT 2020, of which 18 are male and one is female. Out of these candidates, 16 are from engineering or technology background, two are from economics and one is from the management background.

A total of 2,27,835 candidates had registered for the B-school entrance exam this year of which only 1,90,144 appeared for the exam. The number of applicants is also lesser than last year.

How topper Aaryan Kapoor prepared for CAT

Conceding that he was weak in the verbal ability section, Kapoor said he paid special attention to his weak points. “I enrolled for an online course only for the VARC section. I also participated in mock test series by almost all the big vendors, as well as enrolled for an overall CAT exam preparation manual from a famous coaching institute,” he said.

Practicing mock tests, he said, helped him analyse his performance.

7 toppers from engineering background

7 out of the nine who have scored 100 percentile in CAT are from the engineering/ technology background, one candidate is from maths background and another one is from management background.

3 toppers are from Rajasthan

9 candidates have scored an overall 100 percentile in the CAT 2020 examination. Of the candidates scoring an overall 100 percentile, 3 candidates are from Rajasthan and the remaining six candidates are from Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Punjab, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh respectively.

15 students from Chandigarh score over 99 percentile

As many as 15 students from the Tricity scored more than 99 percentile in CAT this year. Among toppers is Naval Mittal, a resident of Bathinda in Punjab who scored 99.97 percentile was taking coaching from Chandigarh. He has done his engineering from Panjab University. Rupesh Waishya, a resident of Dhakoli made the city proud by securing 99.8 percentile. Rupesh who has done his mechanical engineering from Punjab Engineering College was appearing for the CAT exam for the second time. He has done his schooling from Bhawan Vidyalaya Chandigarh.

CAT achiever Visheh Garg dreams of becoming a CEO like Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai

Twenty-three-year-old Vishesh Garg, who scored 99.99 percentile in the Common Admission Test (CAT 2020), always wanted to become an administrative officer. But the success stories of Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai inspired him to take up management as a career choice. With a 99.99 percentile in CAT, Garg now believes that has come closer to achieving his dream.

“While studying BTech in electronics and communication, I used to read inspiring stories of Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai who are shaping the world by heading technology giants like Microsoft, Google. I felt I can be a CEO one day if I manage to get admission in a good B-school,” he said.

Meet CAT achievers from Gujarat

In a rare achievement, a candidate from Gujarat, Pulkit Pandey, scored 99.99 percentile in verbal ability section of Common Admission Test (CAT), the results of which were announced Saturday.

The 23-year-old electronics engineer from Vadodara, who got an overall score of 99.84 percentile, has been working as a programmer at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Gandhinagar since 2019.

CAT scores are in percentile

CAT candidates get marks in percentile and not percentage. The Overall Scaled Score is the sum of the scaled scores of the candidate in the three sections. Percentile refers to the percentage of candidates who receive a scaled score less than or equal to the scaled score obtained by the candidate.

Till when is CAT result valid?

The CAT 2020 score is valid only till December 31, 2021 and will accordingly be accessible on the website. Thereafter, no queries related to the issuance of CAT 2020 scorecards will be entertained.

IIM CAT result 2020 HIGHLIGHTS: The number of applications for CAT 2020 had been reduced down from 2.44 last year to less than 2.30 this year. The number of applicants is the lowest since 2016. Those who clear CAT are eligible to take admission in top B-schools across the country including IIMs.
