The Expert Committee recommended the conditional approval of the emergency use of the Covishield vaccine of the Serum Institute. Now it needs the green signal of the Controller General of Indian Medicine, from where the approval is set. At the same time, there will be a nationwide rehearsal on Saturday to test vaccination preparations.
The Expert Committee on Kovid-19 of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization met on Friday. First of all, it was discussed in the vaccine of American company Pfizer. This was followed by a discussion on the serum and vaccine of Bharat Biotech.
During this time all the experts agreed on the emergency use of Kovishield. A senior official present in the committee said, "Based on the recommendations, there is every hope of Kovishield being approved by the Drug Controller General.
Serum, the world's largest vaccine manufacturer, has tied up with AstraZeneca for the production of Kovishield. The vaccine, developed by Oxford University and manufactured by AstraZeneca, was approved by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency of Britain on Wednesday.
The serum claims to have made five million doses of Kovishield. The company aims to produce 100 million doses by March.
300 million people vaccinated in the first phase
The list of people to be vaccinated for emergency use has been uploaded by most states on the Kovid website. There are 300 million people under its ambit who will be vaccinated in the first phase. Health workers, security forces, corporators, people aged 50 and above, and already ill persons will get the vaccine.
Countrywide rehearsal today, preparations complete: Harshvardhan
Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said on Friday, preparations for the first phase of vaccination have been completed. Vaccination will be a rehearsal in all states and union territories on Saturday.
The world's largest adult immunization program requires complete preparation on the lines of elections. There will be rehearsal at least three centers in every state. During this time nobody will get vaccinated but all the vaccination process will be completed.
Corona vaccine will be out of control
The central government has approved import-export of corona vaccine without any price limit so that there can be uninterrupted distribution. The Central Board of Direct Taxes and Customs has given this exemption for import and export of vaccines from couriers in places where the express cargo system is operational.
Vaccination started in America, Russia, and Britain
Vaccination has started in Britain, Russia, and the US. Apart from this, Bahrain, Singapore, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, UAE, and Israel have also been approved. Emergency use of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines has been permitted in the US. The UK has approved Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines.
China has also recently approved indigenous informs with conditions. Vaccination of Sputnik-5 has started in Russia. Canada has approved Pfizer and BioNotech vaccines.
