Kovishield has become the country's first vaccine to protect against the coronavirus, but indigenous vaccines will be brought with it in the coming days. According to the exclusive information received by Amar Ujala on Friday, the expert committee recommended allowing Kovishield to be used with conditions. At the same time, Bharat Biotech has also asked the committee to complete the third test at the earliest.
The directive from India Biotech to end covaxine testing soon
Currently, Phase III trials are underway on Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech's covaxine vaccine, but in many places, it is being delayed due to lower Volunteer. For example, in Delhi AIIMS, 1500 people were to be included in the test and to complete the test by 31 December.
However, so far only 500 people have been registered. Due to this, the last date of registration also had to be extended. A senior Indian Drug Controller's office said after the end of the meeting that all the documents of the serum institute of India related to Kovishield are complete. The committee recommends allowing Kovishield but has asked Bharat Biotech to complete the test soon.
Have to take two doses
The official said that there will be two types of vaccines in the country, with two doses each. The government has made a rule that only one company or one type of vaccine can be vaccinated in a district because if any adverse event comes, then the vaccine can be banned immediately. Now, if Kovishield gets permission first and starts sending its dosage to the states, then the same type of vaccine will be introduced in the whole country. Therefore, the government wants to bring the vaccine of two companies together. Immunization programs can be started only after this.
Vaccination program expected to start in the country from March
On a question, former scientist of ICMR, Dr. Raman R. Gangakhedkar told that he is hopeful that the vaccination program will start in the country from March. On the question of taking two months even after getting permission, he said that much more is yet to be done in this process. With permission, storage has to be seen.
