Tamil Nadu CM K Palaniswami announces Rs 600 crore relief to five lakh farmers


Chennai: Chief Minister K Palaniswami on Saturday introduced Rs 600 crore relief assistance to about five lakh farmers, whose crops on 3.10 lakh plus hectares had been hit due to the latest again to again cyclones in Tamil Nadu. The Chief Minister elevated assist, coated underneath enter subsidy head, to Rs 20,000 from Rs 13,500 per hectare for rainfed and irrigated paddy and for different crops with irrigation facilities.

Similarly, the Chief Minister hiked help underneath the perennial crops class to Rs 25,000 from the current Rs 18,000 per hectare.

The current slab of help per hectare relies on the National Disaster Relief Fund pointers and the quantum of hike over and above the NDRF stipulation shall be borne by the state authorities, Palaniswami mentioned.

Tamil Nadu has sought Rs 3,750.38 crore help for harm due to Nivar and Rs 1,514 crore for Burevi from the Central authorities.

“Rs 600 crore assistance will be provided to about five lakh farmers and the benefit shall be directed transferred to their bank accounts from January 7,” he mentioned.
