Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has booked Triplicane Urban Cooperative Societies Ltd Managing Director AG Chandrasekar and wife Amutha on charges of amassing wealth to the tune of Rs 2.15 crore disproportionate to their income in 10 years.
Chennai: From 2006 to 2016, the savings of Chandrasekar was estimated to be Rs 1.02 crore, but his accumulation of assets was worth Rs 3.17 crore and the percentage of disproportion was 56.47 per cent. Between, 2012 to 2016, Chandrasekar acquired movable (two cars) and immovable properties worth over Rs 2 crore in the names of his wife and kin.
Based on the information, the DVAC conducted a detailed inquiry and registered a case as Chandrasekar, who was formerly joint director Cooperatives PDS-1 (North Chennai), could not satisfactorily account the income. Since his wife Amutha, correspondent of a private school, could also not account for the assets in her name, she has also been included in the case.
