Assam Rifles apprehends insurgents

Imphal, December 31 2020: Assam Rifles apprehended two insurgents of the proscribed insurgent group PLA yesterday.

The insurgents identified as self styled private Maibam Kanta Singh and self styled private Thoudam Anoubi Singh were reportedly involved in recruitment of youth by luring them with fake promises, said a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.

Both the apprehended insurgents were handed over to Heirok Police Station for further investigation, added the statement.

In another instance troops of Assam Rifles apprehended one cadre of KIA (T) (non SoO group) near Tuilaphai village in Churachandpur district on December 29, said another statement by PRO Assam Rifles.

Acting on specific intelligence about presence of a KIA (T) cadre in the area, the security forces launched an operation and apprehended the individual, added the statement.

Two M-16 rifles, four M-16 magazines and 81 rounds of ammunition were also recovered, added the statement.

The apprehended individual along with recovered items were handed over to Henglep Police Station, Churachandpur for further investigation, said the statement.
