JAMMU: Slamming PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti for her remarks on the December 30 gunfight between security forces and terrorists near Srinagar, BJP on Friday said she has always taken a stand for separatists and terrorists, and that she should not be talking about human rights.
Mehbooba had earlier in the day written to J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, urging him to initiate an impartial probe into the ‘encounter’. She wrote that “such incidents of violation of human rights bring disrepute to the armed forces”.
Referring to Mehbooba’s letter, former deputy chief minister of the erstwhile J&K state and senior BJP functionary Kavinder Gupta said a terrorist is a terrorist and he should be dealt with firmly, as per the law.
“What about the human rights of armed forces and innocent civilians who are martyred in terrorist attacks, which take place every other day,” Gupta asked.
Flaying the PDP president, Gupta said, “If you notice, she has always been vocal for her agenda, which is not in the interest of the nation and its people. PDP as a political party has lost its relevance in Jammu and Kashmir’s political arena. Many of its leaders are already in the custody of NIA in hawala cases.”
He alleged that the Abdullahs (Farooq and Omar) and Mehbooba are conspiring to ‘bleed Kashmir' once again, but nobody would be allowed to disturb the law and order situation in the Valley.
“They will face serious consequences. They are using the Gupkar agenda to save their skin and we will not allow them to succeed,” Gupta said, adding that the people of J&K now know their past, when they were in power and committed large-scale sins.
