Save with solar: Amplus helps Cisco, Qualcomm, GE, et al. reduce carbon footprint, cut costs

Synopsis

Amplus uses the RESCO model, under which the consumer need not bear the upfront cost of setting up a solar plant. Amplus owns the solar assets and is responsible for operation and maintenance. The consumers pay a mutually agreed tariff that covers capital repayment and cost of maintenance and repairs.

In most industries, electricity gets a special mention in the cost structure. It is estimated to be 20%-25% of the total office or plant costs. Yet, managing electricity bills has never featured on the priority list of companies traditionally. But things are changing now, for good. Many of the big state-owned and multinational companies are looking at ways to shave off their energy costs. The shift in priority follows a steady increase in power
