A record number of apps have been downloaded over Christmas. A total of $407.6 million was spent, compared to $302.9 million the year before.
According to the report from Sensor Tower, as usual, iOS users are more likely to open their wallet than Android users. The App Store accounts for $278.6 million, which means that Google Play accounts for the remaining $129 million. In other words, Apple's store accounts for 68.4 percent of total sales.
For the first time ever, the two app stores have together crossed the $100 billion in revenue milestone in a calendar year. What the exact amount will be remains to be seen.
