Imphal, December 31 2020: A joint meeting of Teachers Association, Resident Doctors Association, Trained Nurses Association, Association for all non teaching staff and Students Association of JNIMS was held today.

In the meeting, the members objected the Cabinet's approval for the service extension of the existing Director whose academic age is over 70 years as it is against the RR of JNIMS Society as well as the eligibility criteria of National Medical Commission.

The members expressed concern that service extension of the present Director may lead to derecognition of the only State medical institute which may spoil the career of 840 post graduate students, MBBS students and Dental college students.

They also reiterated that JNIMS is expecting National Medical Commission inspection anytime for opening PG seats in 5 departments and also upgradation of 100 MBBS seats to 150 .

Further the associations appealed to the authority concerned to appoint a new eligible Director as per existing RRs and sought the support of the CSOs and student organizations of the State for their cause.

They also warned that they may be compelled to take up drastic steps if their demands are not met.
