Delhi shivers at 1.1 degrees; coldest new year morning since over a decade

New Delhi, Jan 1 (UNI) The National Capital shivered at 1.1 degrees Celsius on Friday morning ,which was 6 points below season's average making it the coldest new year day since over a decade.

The layer of haze remained towards the afternoon, while dense fog effected visibility in the morning .

The temperature was around 15 degrees C towards the noon , while relative humidity pegged at around 70 per cent, while the sky is likely to be clear during the day, as per the weatherman.

According to the Meteorological department the temperature will further dip towards the evening and night with similar weather conditions to prevail.

For Saturday, however, the weatherman has forecast generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle with minimum and maximum temperatures to settle around 5 and 19 degrees C respectively.

According to the MET official Eastern parts of Rajasthan , Delhi, Western UP are likely to witness drizzle or very light rain and there is possibility of light rain in Delhi between Sunday-Tuesday.

The average minimum temperature during the month of December in Delhi has been the lowest for the second time in the past 15 years, the IMD said.
