Normally during Christmas and New Year time people pray for happiness and blessings. We have a huge religious population who believe in the kindness of the Almighty. In this season of boons and blessings, we are requesting our Hon. Union Home Minister for his kind consideration of the following prayers:
1. All the peace parleys must continue; and those who want to talk should be encouraged; those who want to join already existing talks must be included; dialogues create peace and peace is good for progress and development; people are hugely benefited by talks; so, talks must continue.
2. First prayer is for setting up of a Manipur Regiment or Highway Protection Force; to recruit at list 4000-5000 youths. They will be protecting and safeguarding our National Highways from thugs, looters, extortionists etc.
3. A large number of Manipuri women should be inducted in the security and paramilitary forces because they are fearless and extremely courageous. Please recall the Women’s wars of 1904 and 1939 in Manipur. Today also they are in the forefront fighting for justice.
4. Drastic and immediate steps should be taken up to stop the extension of the Golden Triangle towards the NE India including Manipur; otherwise, it is going to ruin us.
5. Extensive encouragement of bamboo business in the region; huge employment may be generated – in growing, cutting, transportation of bamboo; again, bamboo is usable for handicraft, furniture, toothpicks, Agarbati sticks, paper-production etc.
6. Introduction of an unemployment allowance for our educated youths will be of great help in maintaining law and order in the State.
7. Commercialization of local brew should be given priority; it will boost the State economy like anything; State may be advised accordingly.
8. Manipuri language should be given the classical language status; this language is an ancient language as old as the Chinese or Tibetans; the revived ancient script should also be recognized.
9. An IIT may be started here because some of our children are really good in Maths, Science, Computers, IA etc.
10. Train should reach Imphal at the earliest; and further it should be extended and linked to Myanmar rail-network; this is going to be a gamechanger for our future economics.
11. ‘Look East’, ‘Act East’ and now it is time for ‘Move East’. We have seen good work in Vietnam in recent days. A proactive role in the East is the need of the hour.
12. The major rivers of the State may be dredged or drained properly; along with that there should be aggressive afforestation in the catchment areas and the sources of the rivers. Enough fund may be provided for it. Rivers are our life-lines.
13. Delimitation on the basis of controversial census reports may be stopped and we may be allowed to complete it later. It may be delayed till 2026 when the Parliamentary seats are to be reorganized.
14. Kangla & Palace may be reconstructed using modern technology & equipment but on the same ancient design and architecture. These are our pride heritages.
15. The people of Manipur should be given an equal social status – division creates enmity among the people. What about categorizing all of them as aboriginals or advanced citizens?
16. More funds and more development work for the hills is still required; visitors still find hill regions far lagging behind. People are still struggling for water, power, food, roads, schools, health-care etc.
17. Loktak lake should be provided floating toilets for the visitors and inhabitants (with a regular clearing mechanism); we had enough funds for cleaning, dredging, deepening, etc. but no one is doing the most important work of providing toilets in and around Loktak.
Submitted Please (Our elections are in 2022 if not preponed)
