German electronic patient files, new green appliances label classes are among digital changes in 2021 - Bitkom

Thursday 31 December 2020 | 13:41 CET | News
German digital association Bitkom has listed a number of digital innovations taking place in Germany in 2021. The introductory phase of the electronic patient record (ePA) will start on 01 January. This means that all statutory health insurers are obliged to make digital files available to patients on request, but use is voluntary. Patients retain sovereignty over information stored in the ePA. They should have quick access in future to medical data, diagnoses and vaccination records. In the course of 2021, the electronic patient record will be available at doctors' surgeries.
