Markets witnessed a lacklustre day of trade with the benchmark index Nifty trading in a narrow range throughout the day as option writers took centre stage.
Both Nifty & Bank Nifty index closed on a flat note. Share price of Reliance Industries & Bharti Airtel witnessed selling pressure, closing 0.7%/1.25% lower while the stocks like HDFC & Sun Pharma closed ~1% higher.
Midcap 100 index closed higher, up 0.5%. Market breadth ended in the favour of the advances with the advance/decline ratio closing at 1:1x. Nifty index added fresh long positions during the day.
On the options front (December 31, 2020 expiry), across the board option writing was seen in call and put option strikes as Nifty traded in a narrow range. India Vix index closed at 21.1, down ~0.1%.
