COVID-19: One dies as State registers 41 new cases, 80 discharged

Imphal, December 30 2020: Manipur in the past twenty four hours lost another person to COVID-19 to take the official death toll to 354 .

The State also witnessed 41 persons being found positive for the contagion even as 80 persons were discharged in the said period.

According to a press release issued by Dr Khoirom Shasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and Spokesperson of State Health Department, 41 persons including 20 males and 21 females from the general population were tested positive for the virus.

They were tested at JNIMS (13), RIMS (6), Imphal West (1), Hillside (2), Nazareth (1), Shija Hospital (6), Raj Medicity (2), Tamenglong (2), Jiribam (1), Churachandpur (2) and Babina Diagnostics (5), it said.

All the COVID-19 positive persons are locals and are from Imphal West (18), Imphal East (10), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (1), Tamenglong (2), Senapati (1), Jiribam (1), Tengnoupal (2) and Churachandpur (2) .

Since they have no significant travel history, all necessary precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it said.

The release also said that the fatality reported was a 64 year old female from Imphal East who was admitted at Raj Medicity.

Meanwhile, a total of 80 persons including 1 CAPF (Central Armed Police Force) were discharged in the last 24 hours, it continued.

Of the total discharged, 49 persons were in home isolation while the rest were undergoing treatment at JNIMS (10), RIMS (8), LKK (2), Shija Hospital (8) and Raj Medicity (2), it said.

With the addition of the new cases, the cumulative number of positive cases is 28,137 (General Population-24,760 and CAPF- 3,377), the release said.

The cumulative number of recovered cases is 26,601 (General Population-23,354 and CAPF- 3,247) and thus the number of active cases is 1,182 (General Population-1,056 and Central Security Personnel - 126), it said.

The recovery rate is 94.54 per cent, it continued.
