New Delhi, Dec 31 (UNI) Farmers agitation at the Delhi borders entered day 36 on Thursday, more peasants from Rajasthan headed towards Delhi borders entered Haryana, while more joined at the Ghazipur and Singhu borders.
Farmers who continued their sit in on day 36 amidst cold wave conditions in northern region were preparing to celebrate their new year a the capital's borders now with their eyes on January 4 , the date set for the next meeting of farmers Organisations and the central government, after the sixth round of talks that took place on Wednesday at Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan.
The talks ended on a positive note on Wednesday, while government had appealed the farmers to end their agitation considering the chilly weather in Delhi, as agriculture minister requested the farmer leaders to send home the elderly, women and children.
On January 4 , discussion will continue on the legal aspect of MSP and other issues.
Meanwhile, Delhi borders including Singhu, Auchandi and other points continued to remain shut due to the farmers protests.
Farmers unions welcomed the developments at the talks yesterday, but, said their main demand for repeal of the three contentious farm laws still remained and the protests would continue till the laws were withdrawn.
Bhartiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait said that issues related to stubble burning and electricity were sorted out.
However, two of the main issues still needed to be resolved. ‘’We'll discuss the issue of MSP and repeal of the three farm laws in the next meeting on January four.’’
All India Kisan Sabha spokesman said the government has been calling for ending the agitation. But the agitation would not be withdrawn till all the demands were met.
