CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government has issued a blanket ban on New Year celebrations as a measure to prevent super spreader of Covid-19.
In an order, chief secretary K Shanmugam said New Year celebrations in hotels, clubs and beach resorts shall not be permitted from December 31 night to January 1. He said New Year celebrations on Marina Beach and roads would not be permitted.
The curfew has been enforced as per the Disaster Management Act.
