Trichy, Dec 30 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi
and ruling AIADMK co-coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami
on Wednesday slammed Opposition DMK Chief M K Stalin
for his remarks that the AIADMK was heading for a split.
Kicking off his election campaign here, he said there would
not be any split in the party at any time and none could break
the party.
He advised the DMK leader to stop dreaming and save his
own party first
Stating that the DMK had made several futile bids in the
past to create rift in the AIADMK and bring down the
government, Mr Palaniswami recalled Stalin's remarks
the government headed by him would collapse within a
month, six months and one year.
'We have now completed 3 years and ten months. People
are now aware and do not believe Mr Stalin's misleading
statements', he added.
'You cannot touch even a cadre of AIADMK. Even a thousand
Stalins cannot split the AIADMK,” Mr Palaniswami declared.
Accusing Mr Stalin of entering entered politics through
“short-cut” route using his family background, the Chief
Minister said he (Mr Palaniswami) had risen from the
grassroots level.
“Never think you can take a farmer with a rural background
for granted,” he added.
Stating that the DMK leadership was only concerned about
the welfare of its family, Mr Palaniswami said it was during
the DMK regime Kabini reservoir was constructed in Karnataka,
destroying the livelihood of the farmers of Tamil Nadu.
On the contrary, it was 'Amma' (late J Jayalalithaa) ensured
Tamil Nadu's rights and a lasting soution by getting a favourable
verdict from the Supreme Court on the five-decade old Cauvery
river water sharing dispute, he added.
