Uncapped Knights paceman Migael Pretorius has been released from the Proteas’ Bio-Secure Environment (BSE) after suffering a muscle injury to his right shoulder, Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed.
The 25-year-old from Vereeniging, who has had an exceptional season so far in the CSA 4-Day Series, will return to his franchise to complete his rehabilitation.
Pretorius had been named in the Proteas squad to face Sri Lanka in the two Boxing Day and New Year’s Tests in Centurion and Johannesburg after being the leading wicket taker in First Class cricket this season with 19 wickets.
Beuran Hendricks, whose only Test cap came in South Africa’s defeat to England at the Wanderers last January, has been recalled to the national team.
"Migael Pretorius has been released from the Bio-Secure Environment due to a muscle injury to his right shoulder. He will go back to his franchise for rehabilitation," said CSA in a statement on Wednesday.
"Beuran Hendricks has been reinstated to the Proteas Test squad following the completion of thorough and successful COVID-19 and pre-BSE entry protocols. He joined the team yesterday evening.
"The left-arm seamer will begin training with the team ahead of the second Test match against Sri Lanka with immediate effect."
