Imphal, December 29 2020: Reiterating its demand that Government take the drug haul case of 2018 to a higher Court for reinvestigation, Ningol Club continued to protest by blocking the road at Wangjing Bazar today.

The club, while putting forth the menace of drug issue in the State, has been urging the State Government to appeal in a higher Court for reinvestigation of the case after a Special Court of ND&PS let go the prime accused.

The club in a statement issued today, said that the State Government considering the future of the future pillars should not remain silent on the matter.

The Government, as it voices 'war on drug' campaign repeatedly should appeal to a higher Court to ensure reinvestigation of the case, it said.

The silence on the part of the State Government despite calls from various civil society bodies across the State has put all in a confusing situation, it said while adding that the case right from the beginning has been surrounded by 'irregularities' including regular change of IO of the case, transfer of Judges and 'loss of evidence', bail grants etc.

The club, thus protesting the silence and inattention on the part of the State Government, took out the protest by restricting vehicular movement at Wangjing Bazar, it said.
