TRICHY: Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday accused DMK president M K Stalin of trying to cause a split in the ruling AIADMK.
The CM’s remark comes a day after Stalin said at a grama sabha meeting in Ranipet that deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam would break away from the AIADMK soon.
Speaking at an election rally in Thottiyam on the first day of his campaign in Trichy, the chief minister said, “Stalin is trying to drive a wedge in the party. It will never succeed. None in our party will give room for such an attempt. No one can shake the AIADMK, and even thousand Stalins cannot touch our party,” he said.
EPS also said that Stalin spread lies as none of his plans worked. “Save your party,” he told Stalin.
On the corruption charges levelled against the AIADMK by the DMK , the CM said that the AIADMK had nothing to fear about but the case of the DMK was different.
He criticised the DMK for not fulfilling its 2006 electoral promise of providing two acres of land to landless farmers. “The DMK is not concerned about the people. Either Stalin criticises our schemes or he speaks as if the DMK had brought those schemes,” EPS said.
The chief minister said more over 41% of students had been enrolled in the government schools.
