see more.. 30 Dec 2020 | 2:57 AMBhopal, Dec 29 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan underlined on Tuesday that an amendment of the Religious Freedom Act – through an ordinance forwarded for gubernatorial approval – provides for stringent punishment against unauthorised conversion of women, girls, Scheduled Castes and Tribes.
“Imprisonment ranges from two to ten years and the penalty is Rs 50,000. Conversion by allurement, intimidation, concealment of identity or for wrong intentions is happening on large scale. The prison term for mas conversion is a minimum of five years to a maximum of a decade and a fine of at least Rs 1 lakh. Parents and siblings of the victim will be able to lodge a police complaint. The offences shall be cognisable and non-bailable. In the context of the anti-adulteration ordinance, the guilty will have to spend his or her natural life in incarceration,” the senior politician was officially quoted as saying.
