Farmers’ protest: SAD slams Centre’s apathy

Ludhiana, December 29

The SAD-B has said by ignoring agitating farmers who were camping on the borders of New Delhi for over a month, the NDA government had acted in a ‘dictatorial’ manner.

Former legislator Ranjit Singh Dhillon said despite vehement opposition of the farm Acts by farmers, legal experts, former bureaucrats, thinkers, intellectuals, farm experts, the government was adamant to justify these laws as agri reforms.

“Upset by the unprecedented protest by farmers to the farm legislations, the government was not prepared to bend. On the contrary, doubts were being created in the minds of the people about the intentions of the farmers and their supporters,” Dhillon stated.

The SAD-B leader said unfortunately the Modi-led government was closing its eyes to bigger challenges and issues facing the people due to the pandemic. “Economy is tottering and Centre seems to be obsessed with burdening the farmers with new laws in the name of reforms,” he added. — TNS
