Govt extends last date of filing IT returns by 10 days

Govt extends last date of filing IT returns by 10 days

New Delhi, Dec 30 (UNI) The Government on Wednesday extended the last date of filing Income Tax returns by 10 days, till January 10, 2021.

Similarly, the date for filing annual GST returns has also been extended, along with other different type of tax returns.

The Income Tax department said in a statement here that keeping in view the COVID-19 situation, the relaxations have been given to the tax payers.

Earlier, the last date for filing tax returns was extended to December 31, which has now been further extended to January 10, 2021.

Along with this, the government has also extended the annual return filing date of GST from December 31 to February 28, 2021, under the GST law's Section 44.

The Income Tax Department said that in view of the challenges faced by the taxpayers, the period of declaration of income tax return, tax audit report under the trust scheme has been extended.

The last date of the Vivad se Vishwas has been extended from December 31 to January 31, 2021.
