2020 was an odd year to say the least, and as the meme goes, not every outfit planned could have been worn in public. Deepika Padukone, a frequent member of the best-dressed club still managed to grace hers fans with a host of winning looks this year. The actor started off the year on a high note with the launch of one of her most awaited movies, Chaapaak. The promotional events saw her in an array of winning looks. On some days the actor stood out in hand-painted Sabyasachi saris, on others she wore statement blouses and pants. Some of her key looks included the black blouse by We11Done styled with a pair of pants by Proenza Schouler, and a knockout tangerine dress by Erdem.
This year, the star was invited to the World Economic Forum's 2020 Crystal Awards where she was honoured for her contribution in the field of mental health. For the trip, her wardrobe included designer pieces like a purple Alex Perry gown, head-to-toe Prada ensembles, and a three-piece pantsuit by French label Gauchere. Whether it was with head-turning jackets or monotone coordinated sets, or a tracksuit, Padukone used every opportunity this year to turn the airport into her personal runway. Some of our favourite travel looks: her teal gen-Z friendly outfit that comprised of a T-shirt worn with a pair of satin trousers and a matching jacket and a beige turtleneck styled with a pair of black trousers, and a long trench coat by JW Anderson. Post the lockdown, relaxed T-shirts, oversized shirts and Nike leggings became her staples.
Coming to her traditional ensembles, the actor managed to deliver some swoon-worthy looks before and during the lockdown. One of her most striking looks was the light yellow Anjul Bhandari gharara set she wore while promoting Chaapaak. For Diwali 2020, on the other hand, she pulled out all stops by wearing a striking red silk sari by Raw Mango that showcased zari floral motifs.
