Two Cong MLAs, ex-BPF legislator join BJP in Assam

Guwahati, Dec 29 (UNI) Former influential Congress minister Ajanta Neog and MLA Rajdeep Goala today joined the ruling BJP, along with former Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) legislator Bolendra Mushahary.
The three leaders were welcomed into the saffron party by the BJP’s state president Ranjeet Kumar Dass and Cabinet minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Neog was an influential minister in three Congress governments in the state from 2001 to 2016 and had been expelled from the parent party last week for ‘anti-party activities’.
Goala, a two-time MLA and son of a former Congress minister, was also shown the exit door by the Congress after reports had emerged of him sending feelers to the BJP.
Talking to reporters later, Neog alleged that she was not being given due respect in the Congress and the vision of BJP drew her towards it.
Goala and Mushahary maintained that they have been attracted by the ideology and vision of BJP and joined the party to serve the people.
