Experience sharing visit organised

Imphal, December 28 2020: To exchange ideas in solving drug-related problems in Manipur and Punjab, India HIV/AIDS Alliance organised an exposure cum experience sharing visit for health workers and representatives of health workers and representatives of the Health Department, Punjab Government from November 27 to 29, 2020 and interchange Nirvana Foundation community-led model for intervention and Kapurthala Clinic based model, which is a unique one shop model.

A press release issued by the Nirvana Foundation said that the three days visits were a period of exchanging ideas and knowledge among the teams of the two States (Punjab and Manipur) .

The Kapurthala team visited North AOC and discussed strategies to solve drug overdose cases there on the first day, it said and added that Sobhana Sorokhaibam, secretary Nirvana Foundation spoke on "Integrated harm reduction services for women who use drugs" while Sandeep Bhola Health Department, Kapurthala, deliberated on sharing during a session held on the second day.

Kumak Kishore of India HIV/AIDS Alliance also brought the good practices of each State in dealing with drug problems and how it can be replicated.

The third day focussed on understanding community-led overdose response and management undertaken by SASO.

During the three day visits, the delegates also met the Project Director of Manipur State AIDS Control Society, Rosita Haobam.
