NOIDA: The Noida Authority on Monday levied a fine of Rs 2.25 lakhs on bulk waste generators in Sector 18 for flouting Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Rules 2016.
Companies fined include Matrix Platform Pvt Ltd Rs 1lakh, McDonald Family Restaurant Rs 75,000, Domino’s Pizza Jubilant Wood Works Rs 25,000 and Equitas Bank Rs 25,000.
Following instructions from Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari, Indu Prakash OSD and Gaurav Bansal assistant project engineer public health department inspected Sector 18 market on Monday where the said fines were levied for 8 boxes of banned single use plastic along with non-segregated mixed waste spilled on road in the case of Matrix Platform Pvt Ltd which is a food delivery restaurant.
This was followed by non-functional effluent treatment plant (ETP) and no provision for waste disposal or processing found at McDonald’s family restaurant in the market.
Similarly, Domino’s Pizza was fined for spreading dirt and littering the road with its delivery bikes while Equitas Bank was fined for non-delivery of segregated waste and spreading filth on road.
